The lever on my TD, all factory parts here, is more in the 7:00 position. I
have no problems with it disengaging. If you will look at page E4 of the
factory shop manual you will see that the lever is supposed to have a small hole
between the two fulcrum pin holes and the spring slips into that small hole. It
also shows the lever more in the 7:00-7:30 position. Although Horst's book is
helpful, it does contain mistakes, and you should use the shop manual as your
primary reference if possible.
