Scott,

I recently recommended that you have Phil Marino install a tapered shaft,
and new bearings and seals in your water pump. I failed to mention
impellers.

Old TDs had four blade impellers, and newer TDs and TF had six blades. To
further complicate matters, it is my understanding that Abingdon Spares
sells five blade versions.

There is some debate regarding which is best, but it is my impression that
the six blade is the most desirable. If you do not already have one,
installing a six blade impeller at pump overhaul time is probably the way to
go.

I have not checked on their availability, but since new water pumps seem to
mostly come with six blade impellers, one would think you can obtain them
separately.
