Mystery #1:
I have just acquired a TC which has a chequered past. I have known the car,
its owners and its history from 1969 to the present. The car was apparently
imported into Canada in the late fifties/early sixties and raced at several
Ontario tracks. It has an XPEG block, exhaust header, 1 1/2" carbs, 16"
wheels, brake back plate vents on all four wheels, Jaguar XK120 light
units, otherwise stock TC. It was painted white in the sixties.
Now to the mystery, The car has English plates NPB-977, actual chassis
number is TC-5302, brass data plate says number TC-6280, with engine number
XPAG 6978 and Ontario registration says 4258.
So the question is, does anybody know anything about any of these numbers
or any early history of this TC? Perhaps someone has a brass data plate on
TC-6280 that says TC-5302? If so we could right two wrongs.
Mystery #2:
Many years ago I came across a line drawing of the TC. Drawing size is
approximately 35" x 70" and I had a reproducible made from the original
copy. The drawing appears very accurate and has a lot of detailed TC
dimensions indicated on several different views.
The title block says:
BODY DEPT.
MORRIS MOTORS
LIMITED
COWLEY, OXFORD
MODEL
MG 10 HP TWO SEATER SERIES TC.
GENERAL ARRANGEMENT
OF BODY
Drawing number is : B:951
Drawn J. Stimson 18.12.44
Traced WECarter 20. 4.45
Cheched REF ( thats how checked is spelt on dwg ).
Passed LPH
Question is, can anybody recognize the drawing and confirm its
authenticity. Who are these people who signed the drawing? If the drawing
is correct, MG was planning the TC in December 1944.
