NY trip

I need to drive my son to upstate New York (Ithaca) this summer.  Does anyone
have some recommendation on places to stop on the way there or back?  Any good
car musuems?  I seem to recall an mg collection in NY somewhere but can't
remember where.  Any suggestions ??
