Bill,
John is correct normal max bore is 58.5mm but my J2 has 59mm
bore (+80). No problem at all at 5000rpm.
I don't want to try 60mm : it's too risky. Hence if I need to
rebore my J2 engine in the future, I will re-lined and make it
standard bore.

searching abilities did not find a discussion of how far a J2
block can be bored safely, or what minimum cylinder wall
thickness should be maintained.
With ultrasound testing, the thickness of the cylinder alls can
be measured, but how much wall thickness is enough? Have any
folks on this list bored their J2 blocks out to 60 mm without
problems? Or with problems?
