Pete, Dave et al, I couldn't afford an M.G. before the war so was forced to drive an Austin 7. The 7's engine was similar to the J2's in one respect only, it had a two bearing crank! We were taught (something that doesn't happen much nowadays) to "row it along on the cog sorter". If you drove that way you covered a lot of ground in a short time and without over stressing the engine. If you kept the revs below 5500 you'd never break a crankshaft, or at least I didn't. Cheers, "Bob". /// unsubscribe/change address requests to majordomo@autox.team.net or try /// http://www.team.net/cgi-bin/majorcool /// http://www.team.net/mailman/listinfo /// Archives at http://www.team.net/archive/mg-mmm /// Send list postings to mg-mmm@autox.team.net |
