Hello,
I threw a rod (appear to have broken a rod bolt first) in my PA in May. The
rod went into the water jacket. I think the block can be welded but want to
see if I have an option of finding a used block that might be a better
starting point.
Also, I have a good Wade supercharger that I hope to one day put on the car.
I don't have the 'PTO' coupling for the front of the engine crank (for front
mount). Does anyone have one of those coupling shafts they would like to
sell?
I was in the slow lane of the freeway at about 55mph when the rod let go.
Yes, I should have torn down the engine before driving it so much but the
prior owner, a good mechanical engineer, had retorqued the rod nuts and
replaced the cotter pins along with cleaning the engine good and rebuilding
it otherwise. (The crank passages were clean.) I have the modern rods with
shell bearings going back in. The crank has been checked and ground, the
flywheel lightened and everything balanced.
Thanks much,
Dan Shockey
