Lawrie,
The pre-war MGs did use Rudge-Whitworth inscribed knock-offs, never the
later plain or MG inscribed versions. They did, however, have the word
"UNDO" with the arrow.
The correct door latches on the pre-war open cars that I have seen use a
fixed portion which is a hook-like contraction. This has a cone shaped
nose which enters a hole on the door-mounted half of the latch. This is
different from the post-war version which used a wedge on the fixed half
of the latch. Hard to describe, but they are different as far as I know.
Regards,
Lew Palmer
P.S. Regards the engine color discussion, I've not yet published the
final tally, but suffice it to say that I have turned up a number of
cars which are VERY original, their history is know, and that DID NOT
come out of the factory with red engines. The early ones (early M-types)
are coming up gray or gray-green, and many later ones (but not all) are
coming up green. It would seem that both red and green were used.

Good to hear from you Chris.
Re interchangeability of wire wheel knock-offs, the ones Moss sells now
are marked "MG" and the infamous "Undo" and appropriate arrow. The ones
on my PA say "Rudge Whitworth". Did someone change mine in years gone
by,
or were there different ones used on some PAs? My door latches are also
a slightly different shape from the T-series ones. Comments?

P-type originality discussion!)
