I think, as Tom says, it maybe better if I saw a picture. I can't begin to envision what you guys are trying to describe. Thanks, Lew Lew. What TOMMM says is perfectly right. I had this spring on my NB when I bought it in 1978. As it was in such a terrible state I was looking for some replacement. I found those clips you can buy in tool shops to fix tools on a board and adapted it to the cover.
