I have become confused while restoring my J2. I'm not sure which way round the threads should be on the front stub axles and the rear axle. Both have a left hand thread one side and a right hand thread on the other. Should they be the same as the threads for the spinners on the hubs or the opposite to them. Graham Howells booklet and Blower's manual seem to be saying different things. Any advice would be appreciated. All of this came to light when I discovered that I had only one forward gear but four reverse ones! I've now turned the diff upside down and that is fine but I think that my back axle is back to front; the vent hole is on the nearside on my car. ---------------------- David Stansbie David.Stansbie@bristol.ac.uk |
