When I purchased a Tex-Racing trans a few years back I also wondered about
the hose clamp. My case and tail shaft are aluminum. They have a nice
selection since the Nascar guys use magnesium. I figured these guys are a
lot smarter on tranmissions than I so I left it on. I wondered if it was
for the OD style which I purchased but with your inquiry I guess they are on
all of them.
My shortie trans with no tail shaft housing and resplined main shaft has no
extra bearing or bushing and I have never had a problem with it.
