Wiring help

I have my alternator wire  going to my mechanical master saftey cut off cut
off located near the battries at the back of the car--  the batteries are
wired to this switch---the main starter cable is to this switch---is there any
reason why I can't "feed" the rest of my electrical systems from the starter
post with another "Sub Master switch that I can control from the cockpit?
