Off Topic... Old Nascar Information..

Lately, I have been getting the notion to build some kind of old NASCAR 
replica race car, but mostly for the street. Something like an old 
Hudson from the 50's era, or similar. Where would I go to seek what car 
actually raced back in the old days and how they were constructed?  
Where would I start looking?
