Terry: Weight is important for "quickness" of acceleration. At Bonneville
your terminal (top) speed will be limited mostly by DRAG, and then to a much
lesser extent, other losses like the tire-to-ground interface. The loss of
weight might have a small influence on the latter but it is doubtful, in
your case, it will show up in a time slip. In other words, weight loss makes
no difference on your top speed. (I can hear the flames already).

DRAG increases as the square of the speed. In other words, that drag at 60
mph becomes 4 times greater at 120 mph. ((2x speed) squared) or 2 x 2 = 4.

Aerodynamics is far MORE important than any weight loss in your case.

(snip . . .) Wondering if anyone knows of a simple math formula for weight
vs speed.
