Tom, my (probably limited) understanding is that the type of fairing
Burt used is no longer legal. A "sit on" bike must expose both sides &
top of the rider and cannot extend beyond the rear of the back tire, nor
in front of the front axel (except for front fender).
More aero than that and it becomes a streamliner and now you need a
cage, harness, etc. So there are no bikes legal to compare his time to.
I've been wrong before, so if I'm off base, someone please clarify.

#3 - Burt set the record in 1962, but not the record that now is in the
books. That was set in 1967. The main reason it is still in the book is
that
the class has basically been abandon by present day motorcyclist.
