Jon-- Rustoleum rusty metal primer in the regular can. It's got a fish oil
base. Put it on thick with a brush.
When's the last time you saw a rusty fish?
Seriously, this is a tough nut to crack. The coating has to have a
combination of flexibility to keep from cracking, adhesive strength to stick
to smooth surfaces, toughness to resist abrasion or other surface damage,
resistance to various common chemicals and solvents, total lack of porosity,
simple application method like brush or spray at ambient temperatures, low
cost........I suppose I could go on.
We're talking the paint chemist's holy grail here.
