My hand held Apollo aviation GPS is one of the first (meaning very old
technology). You can put in various kinds of way points. At various
airspeeds of 135mph to 165mph I have never missed a waypoint. You can set
the screen for various resolutions but they all show your "track" and you
can see the way point coming up in time to make the correct turn. Newer
aviation units are much better than my unit. Maybe automobile "consumer" GPS
units are slower or inferior to the aviation grade. I have missed turn-offs
in rentals cars because of the slow update. -Elon
