Ok ,my reputation is on the line here.I told one of my students that in the
1960s or early 70s there was a guy who drag raced a rocket powered go-kart and
it went 220mph. It was shown in a Petersen special magazine publication called
Drag Racing which I bought in the early 1980s but can't find. Can anyone on the
list give me the name of this guy and when or where he raced this go-kart? this
young dude thinks I've been sniffing too much octane. One of the other cool
pictures was Don Garlits doing a burnout on an aircraft carrier, and a little
car , I think it was a Vespa with a 427, which was called "No Big Thing".Does
anyone know if The Michigan Madman, E.J. Potter is still alive-I saw him ride
his V-8 powered motorcycle at the last Super Stock reunion in Virginia a few
years back-I videotaped it from the finish line, and when I watch it in slow
motion it is magical how much he had to steer the bike as it fishtailed back
and forth coming down the track.I'm rambling but it is such a beautiful morning
and I'm itching to work on my car but I'm at work-shit!
