Hi Jon and fellow picnic "attendees"
How about "games"? We do "The Blindfolded Tricycle Races" at our rod run
picnic's and it's a blast!
Rules;
1) The "driver" is blindfolded.
2) The tricycle is "powered" by two "pushers" who are not blindfolded.
3) The pushers give verbal commands to the driver to negotiate around a road
race "pylon" course. ( Frequently, beer cans are used as pylons...)
4) If you miss a pylon, you must go back and do a 360 around it before
continuing. There is no penalty for going "off course" but it could be a long
way
back.
We run heats with 4 trikes, depending on availability, in a heat. We run
three rounds with pushers and drivers all taking a turn at each position.
We use "metal old school" trikes but I'm sure "Big Wheels" would work just
fine depending on availability and track conditions.
Occasionally, we actually keep score and declare a winner. No awards, they
just get bragging rights and we all give them the clap.
I can send you a DVD of some of our events. It's a hoot!!! It's unbelievable
how disoriented you become when blindfolded and two buds are
screaming/laughing commands in your ear. The whole time you're feeling like you
are going
WAY too fast and have no idea where you're going.
