List,
Margaret and I returned yesterday afternoon from Portland where we attended
the Northwest Bonneville Banquet. Jeff and his wife, Debbie also made the
trip, their first time. There were about 100 in attendance and a good time
was had by all. Burke LeSage, a long time friend, was the speaker and he did
a great job of bringing back memories for me. Burke has driven more
different cars at Bonneville than anyone that I know. After Burke's talk,
Joe Amo received an award for his web site and what it means to the LSR
Community. Well deserved I might add.
Friday evening, Jeff, Debbie, Margaret and I went to see the WFI. It was a
great movie, good salt coverage, some artistic license was taken in
presenting the facts, but that is expected in movies. All in all, a good
presentation of the mind set that causes us to do what we do.
As I suspected, any part that I had in the making of the movie was left on
the cutting room floor, but that's OK. I recognized several scenes that I
was a part of during the making and that can't be taken away. It was an
experience that will always be with me. As we were leaving the theater, we
saw Glen Barrett, Freud, and others that had also taken time out to see the
movie.
If ever you have a chance to make it to the NW Bonneville Banquet, you
should do it. You won't feel that it was time wasted. For me it is a bit of
a pick up in mid off-season.
