Elon, The primary reason for high gas taxes in Europe was to limit consumption and thereby reduce the debit side of their balance of trade, which Americans do not seem to think is important. At least that was what I discovered in the early '80's. That reason may have changed, I haven't looked recently. As with all complex problems, there are simple answers; all of which are wrong. This is starting to smell political, sorry folks. Bryan |
