"They" tell us we have a real bargain on gas since the Europeans pay in excess
of $4.00 per gallon and have done so for years. The difference, however, is
that their prices are mostly formed by high taxes, ours are by high profits. If
you don't think gasoline is profitable, try to find a gas station for sale A
two pump, rural station, if it is for sale, is over $2 million. If you believe
the story of gas stations only making pennies per gallon, explain 40-60 cents
per gallon difference within a three mile radius? Check out, if you haven't
already, http://www.gasbuddy.com. Check out some of their charts too. Friday
oil closed at $67 per bbl. Two weeks ago when it was that price gas was $0.60
cheaper.

A couple of weeks ago the CEO of 7-Eleven was on CNBC Squakbox in the AM. Joe
asked him why 7-Eleven just posted their best quarter ever. He answered in one
word: "Gasoline." He said they have been putting gas pumps at all of their
locations. He said they are fast to raise and slow to lower. How does that make
you feel? Just because you are told it is still a bargain, it ain't necessarily
so.

That's my rant.

My questions about semis are: why is it inevitable that when you are
approaching one in the passing lane with a 10+ MPH differential in speed
they will pull out at the last second causing you to slam on your brakes?

Then, why do they ride side-by-side with the truck they are passing for
miles?

It is frustrating, whether you're on a motorcycle or in a car.

Jim
