All other comments notwithstanding, I remember being told by the fine 
folks in tech and impound to "...have the motor measured after your 
FIRST record of the event..." even though they will seal and let you 
keep running if that's what you prefer, putting off the measuring (and 
need for putting things back together so you can keep on running) until 
you're done for the week.  But what if you break the motor before you 
get it certified, they ask -- they won't/can't measure a broken motor, 
and no measurement means no record.

At this year's SpeedWeek there was a sign posted at the motorcycle tech 
trailer:  "Set a record today?  Get your motor measured TODAY!"
