For what its worth - I have been looking into this as
well. It is mandatory in F1 and Cart. Nascar wasn't
last time I looked. It is primarily efective in a
frontal crash - Also up to 30 degree angle front crash
- The whole idea is to keep your head on your body by
making it move with your body. A basal skull fracture
is if i remember correctly a separation - think a
hanging. If you can afford it why not get it. Some
Rally guys don't like it because they cannot look down
at maps etc...
