I think if the FIA had a group in the USA that supported LSR the way they do
other venues this would not be much of a discussion. On top of that if the
records were treated as though they were important might be another. I am
not sure how they handle the paperwork where you are but if only 1/4 of the
stories are true in the USA the situation is pretty sad. The guys and gals
that race here just don't have the tolerance for slow and uncaring. We
demand value for the money spent. When the results are poor or non-existent
there is no value.. hence the desire to just dump them and use what has been
working. Maybe what needs to happen is a little change at FIA so that some
one else is sanctioned to do the timing for the FIA in the USA. And then
have the paperwork handled promptly rather than taking forever.. Is the SCTA
the right people maybe and maybe not. Maybe because they think the records
are important and know how to run the event and have the equipment and
people in place to do it accurately. Maybe not because it is a group of
volunteers that have other businesses and jobs besides racing for the most
part. I think at the end of the day what we don't like on this side of the
pond is poor value for the money spent. Another question might be asked..
Who times and records more LSR records and posts the results in a timely
manner? personally I like the FIA rule book better.. it is very thin and
easy to understand but I am a little more results oriented as well, I would
like to have my efforts acknowledged in a timely manner and correctly.
