I was just looking at the Official Pahrump website and found the
following -- about the history of the area:

The town prospered for awhile and was comprised of 45 saloons, an opera
house, a telephone company, several hotels, a bank and a
         variety of other businesses. 


I wonder what those "...other businesses..." were. . .  Maybe coffee
shops.  Yeah, that's it, coffee shops!
