Most spool guns have the spool in the back. 4043 alloy makes the best looking
beads and is easiest to use. a spool gun can reach farther without moving the
machine, the new guns are light and easy to use, a young woman who never
welded made a perfect bead first try. my shift key don't work. i got the light
duty Miller it welds 1/4 easy one pass the machine works good at low amps i
think
1/16th is possible i once welded a broken 2'' thick forklift blade at the
bend with a 160amp mild steel mig. i vee,d it out and made multiple pass's it
never failed and the boss never found out i was fooling around when it broke. a
spool gun will never do the quality work of a good welder with a fig. but it
sure is good to have. try to get a permanent argon setup so switching from
steel
to alum isn't a hassle. jack
