In the November 2004 Car & Driver issue, they cover the Toyota Prius Hybrid at
August Speedweek 2004. See the following link:
http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=4&article_id=8695&page_number=1
They(Car & Driver)along with Toyota ,state on page 154 "No one had ever taken a
Hybrid to Bonneville before, all Toyota had to do was show up and complete the
timed mile twice."
Seems that Toyota nor Car & Driver ever thought about a simple google search
such as"well lets say--Hybrid Bonneville Salt Flats.
If they did, they would have discovered that on Sept 23,2001 During the World of
Speed, sponsored by The Utah Salt Flats Racing Assoc(USFRA) a 14 yr old young
man and his father were on the start line with their Hybrid Ford Escort Station
Wagon from nearby Ogden, Utah. They ran 6X,within mins of each other. Twice in
hybrid mode, twice in elect only mode, and twice in gas only mode. I'm speaking
of, then 14 yr old Brent Singleton and his proud father Ken Singleton. Brent
also races the Country's only electric jr. dragster under NHRA sanction. For
hybrid details:

Guess its like David & Goliath. Who spends more on Car & Driver ad space? Just
thought the facts should be known. BTW,the Singletons have contacted Car &
Driver,stay tuned!! Enjoy
