I have wanted to do this to my chevelle for a while now.  I just figured I
would use gas like Mike said.  But I thought about using a fuel injector.
Now being that I have no idea what kind of spray that would make, it
probably won't work like you want it to, as in I dont think it would be long
enough.  But I'm sure something of the sort would work just fine.  I think
the movie "Gone in 60 seconds" really is what got me wanting those flames.
