JB,
>From what I understand most states(NC is one that I beleive has not yet) have
set presedence of this thru court rulings of state regs that forbid use of
improper or unsafe aftermarket equipment(in other words, it's perception of
the cop divided by attitude of the driver). It is not something that is
specifically stated in VA, but that doens't mean you can't be sited, fined
and even have your vehicle impounded for it. They have done this by fining
someone that did or would not fight it as it would then set precedence. Here
in Virginia when I do a n2o install I have the owner sign a statement saying
he is aware it is not legal for street use and have him (re)hook up his
bottle after he's left the shop(simply to release the shops liability of
telling him it's ok to use on the street. It's not a matter that gets pushed
unless it's a hardass or problem driver, and of the cops I know(quite a few)
none have ever cited anyone for it.
