I went through my copy of "The Miller Dynasty" by Mark Dees, turns out that the first NOVI ran Indy in 1941 in an old Miller-Ford Front wheel drive chassis. There were as many as three NOVI powered cars in any one Indy 500. The last one was a Four wheel drive wrecked in practice by Greg Weld in 1966. The Ferguson chassis (4WD) was used in 1964, in 1965 Granatelli designed and built their own 4WD chassis. ************************************* Crashed by Bobby Unser as a rookie I believe. DW |
