I went through my copy of "The Miller Dynasty" by Mark Dees, turns out that the first NOVI ran Indy in 1941 in an old Miller-Ford Front wheel drive chassis. There were as many as three NOVI powered cars in any one Indy 500. The last one was a Four wheel drive wrecked in practice by Greg Weld in 1966. The Ferguson chassis (4WD) was used in 1964, in 1965 Granatelli designed and built their own 4WD chassis. Bob in connecticut |
