Your gas question seems to be answered by several posters but the fuel
question got lost somewhere. If you are running in a fuel class you can
bring your own if you want but I think you'll find that ERC is much more
convenient ... do you really want to haul something as potentially explosive
as gas, methanol or nitro with your race car? Most experienced racers just
show up with empty tanks for gas classes so Rick Gold can seal the tank and
eliminate any questions at inspection. He shows up with three blends of
gasoline and will consult with you about your tune up and recommend the
proper one. all three will pass the test for gas if you set a record. If
you are running in a fuel class you are free to run methanol and
nitromethane. The rule book will explain why other fuels are not
acceptable. A few years back the drag racers were playing with some REALLY
exotic stuff and the potential for severe damage was very high. There's
some fuel discussions in the archives from a couple of years ago with some
really good explanations about some of the exotic stuff. Among other
things, the exhaust fumes are quite dangerous. Better to just stay with the
tried and tested stuff.
