Chris, Walt, List : One of my New England buddies just sent me a
Heads-Up on this interesting '55 Ford up for grabs on eBay ...... at first
glance it looked like just another early 60s custom with a chopped top and
Packard taillights. The photo of the engine compartment revealed a port -
injected 430" Lincoln motor and the interior shows a very basic roll cage,
so I guess this Fomoco tudor saw some drag strip action ..... the
description says it's a sound body, stored inside for thirty years ......
The shot of that injected Lincoln brought back memories of a Mercury
" roadster " that ran at the Daytona Speed Trials " on the beach " ......
I think it was built with the assistance of Art & Lloyd Chrisman, and I
believe it ran something like 157mph on the sand course ........
It was a very unique looking late model roadster, as I recall the
bigger
'57 model, and very colorful in its' bright orange and white paint job with a
headrest faired in, and the engine compartment detailing reflecting the
usual Chrisman Brothers from Compton workmanship ........
I'll have to go look in my archives for that article on this quite
different
factory backed Daytona Trials speedster ........
The eBay number for the injected Ford 'Chopped Gasser' is
2471517463
The car is garaged in New Hampshire, yet might look very much at home
running down the course at Maxton, or way out west on the salt / lakes .....
