Yeah, I know, the proper way to weld stanless steel is probably with a heliarc
or tig with some rare gas found only in outer space and expenxive rod that
rivals diamonds in per pound value - - but - - ! I'm laying out a core support
for my new radiator, and in my junk pile I come across the perfect piece to
use. I'm pretty sure it is stainless. It was originally part of a store
display shelf for clothing. It was covered with surface rust, but a minute on
the wire brush brought it back smooth and shiny.
The Question. In a non-stress environment like a radiator core support, can I
weld that stainless using my regular Mig with CO2/Argon that I have, with my
regular mild steel wire. If not, can I gas weld it with mild steel rod. How
about brazing with flux coated brass rod? Can I weld or braze it to mild steel
(mounting tabs)?
Thanks
