Our '93 Ford F-700 (here at the company) had about 675,000 on the
Cummins 5.9L when we donated it to charity. It's still going, I hear.
The only time we were ever inside the motor was for a front head gasket
at around 400-500,000.
Ford wasn't real good at ancillary equipment -- water pump, starter,
etc -- but the motor lasted forever.
17 quarts of Rotella 15W40 and a filter every 8-9,000 miles was the oil
change routine.
11 mpg for the entire life of the truck - new, old, empty, loaded.
4.33 rear gears, 1:1 high gear (no OD), 7' high by 22' long box on the
back.
Both of the new trucks have the Caterpillar 7.8L diesel 3126E---sure
hope they last that long.
