Rich do you know of any of these that are available in 1/4-24 for sure? I
have and use the following(pretty much in this order when i can) but have not
found any in this size.
Welding and Retapping(best choice & only choice for a true restoration IMO).
Time-Serts(i only know of one type they make besides their heli-coil style).
Press plugs(drill for a tapered press similiiar to a cold weld).
Keen-Pin(key serts) inserts(2 or 4 pins driven in after installing, but are
really thick).
Generic solid inserts(way too fat for most stuff I do).
Self tapping inserts(they're cut and tapered on the o.d. of the entry side).
Heli-Coil(ok in certain applications but welding & retapping, or a real
insert is longer lasting and more professional looking coming from the shop
IMO).
Only other Heli-coil insert I have and use is the ones for sparkplug holes
(which i do happen to like alot)
Only one I've known to have this size is also Heli-coil(spring woulnd style),
I haven't looked super hard yet though. I checked with timesert and thought
I'd check here next incase someone new of another one that is like time-sert.
I'm not familiar with the STI's, can you fill me in? If you have info..
part#, phone#, contact or website where I can get the 24tpi I'd appreciatte
it much.
Thanks a bunch,
