When I was down in Chile some time ago, I visited some places in the
northern part of the country around the edge of the Atacama Desert-- the
driest place on earth-- and heard about a big salt flat called "Salar de
Atacama". It is a very big area and from what I've seen in a few photos,
part of it looks like part of it might be suitable for LSR attempts.

Has anyone ever heard of any LSR attempts in Chile or of anyone who has
scouted this area for racing?
Chile is a nice country and it's somewhat closer than Lake Gardiner (sp?).
Some of the Salar brine lakes are inhabited by flamingos-- a whole different
place, that's for sure.
