I'm actually with Glen on this one-- I don't think the driver can watch a
ride-height readout and react fast enough to be of much value. Where it
could be useful is to record that data on a run and analyze it afterwards.
As you work up in speed, going faster in each succeeding run, you can spot a
lift problem developing and make aero modifications. Otherwise, without that
data, he is driving only "by the seat of his pants" and he may not sense the
incipient problem until disaster overtakes him.
Actually, too much downforce can also be a problem. It's tough on tires.

I think I am with you on this one. The voltage will fluctuate wildly
over bumps, but it could be averaged out and be compared to the distance
the car had to the ground at the start. If the distance is greater and
if that difference is growing, that would be the point of lift and need
correction. This could be done by computers so there is no reaction time
by the driver unlike the rod suggested earlier.

It should be possible with either an ultrasonic or infrared ranging
detector. These give a voltage output that is proportional to the
distance to a reflecting surface. These are used in industrial
applications.

There are several ways to measure ride height with a suspended car but I
am trying to figure out a way to measure it with an unsprung chassis.
May be a way with a walking beam frontend. Anybody have an idea they
want to share? With Rose's body shape......I doubt if there will be
