We're home, my son and I just returned with our XF/BMGR. Last Wednesday we
left with a freshly assembled motor (Tuesday), no oil pressure (oil lines
reversed to filters) and the blower in a box in the back of the Explorer. We
, along with our crew, fixed the oil problem and started the motor on a
regular four barrel carb, then mounted the blower. This was the only the
second time the motor has had the blower on it, we made a check out run and
found the boost too high, 6 lbs at 4,000 and no end in sight. We borrowed a
larger upper pulley from the Flatliners team (our competitors) and proceeded
to run 146.5 on a 159 or so record. We changed the jets larger and made
another run but the car slowwed. Later we fournd the number five rod cap had
come loose and pounded the bearing to real small pieces all over the bottom
of the pan. Run over. As usual we didn't get around to meet hardly any of
the people we wanted to, maybe next year.
Congrats to everyone on a great meet. Phil and Sean Landry
