Well, shoot, John. Wasn't trying to be sarcastic. But was trying to get
anyone with tools and smarts to pitch in rather than just talking about it.
If you have tools at your disposal, develop the required tests or
experiments and gather data. Analyze the data, you are capable of that, I
know you are! I'll do them for you if you cannot get here. I'll return the
data to you for analysis. I don't know how to do what you mentioned. As to
getting out there to test my theories, sure will be one day! Working hard at
it as best my retirement allowance will let me. I have one of those cars
that is gonna hit the aero wall then slip and slide so it is of some note to
me to learn more about the surface. Methods used in road racing sure ought
to apply as far as I can tell. Traction is traction, but I suspect the data
base from which those methods are derived is a tad different, asphalt vs
salt namely. As far as I know there is a real lack of data regarding the
salt surface and I hope to add a little tiny bit to that data base; Join me?
As to publishing not eveyone has their own web site, your sensitivities must
have let you down: if you have a site to pass the data along from, then
all's well and good, if not use Jon's. Can't be much plainer than that.
How can we weigh the drive wheels cheaply..this would be another place to
try and find someting that the salt racer can use. I have an idea but needs
more development. Those expensive corner weighing scales are too much for
most of us, especially me. Got anymore ideas?
As to the reference to Nike and just doing it, guess I will. I aim on taking
data from one location through out the day in increments of one hour or so.
Will it be accurate? Probably not but it will be trendy. I should be able to
develop how traction changes during the day with numbers not opinions...so
this may be a first. In any case, sorry you got your nose bent out of shape,
wasn't my intention at all, since most of the time I just reply to the list.
mayf, the meatball who somehow thinks information needs to be shared
