I think many of the vehicles probably gain more heat in the tires from
"slip" (spinning) than from sidewall flex-- even in the bumpiest years. It
is said that some of the most powerful vehicles spin their tires for 5
miles. (Mine is not one of them.)

It is true that load resulting in flexing of the tread and sidewall may
add some heat but with the air pressures we run I doubt that it would be a
significant contributing factor to failure in any but the heaviest of
vehicles.
