Well, I took a lot of advice on etching primer and how to put it on. I
"yellow" primed that puppy and it was thin enough to see the bondo
underneath quite easily. I then put on a fair coat of gray primer. That
sucker looks pretty good right now however, I am goiing to sand this coat
down and give it another coat or 2 sanding in between coats. I bought the
acrylic paint I am going to use today. Russo Red or something like that. I
waded through the DuPont paint book looking at all the different reds and
this was closest to what I wanted. I got all the stuff to thin and harden it
also. My Plan is to apply 2 color coats, color sanding and buffing the last
coat. Only on the outer skin though. I will be acquiring a HVLP gun for the
final primer and color coats. When the color hardens up, I can begin final
reassembly of all the bits and pieces I have fabbed over the years. Some of
the chrome bits, like deck lid hinges, are not top quality, but will have to
do. Ditto door handles and deck handle.
Thanks to all who assisted me with ideas..
