>From the web:
NHRA is also drag racing's representative in international motorsports
through its membership in ACCUS (the Automobile Competition Committee for
the United States) and the FIA (Federation International de 'l Automobile).
One of the most important events in drag racing history occurred in March
1993 when the sport was officially recognized by the FIA World Motorsports
Council, and the FIA Drag Racing Commission was formed. These actions opened
many doors for drag racing and improved the already solid position that drag
racing holds in the world motorsports community.
NHRA has a vigorous presence in ACCUS. NHRA Chairman of the Board Dallas
Gardner is second director of ACCUS, NHRA Senior Vice President for Race
Operations Graham Light is an ACCUS alternate delegate, and NHRA President
Tom Compton is senior delegate & vice president.
