The FIA records are being seldom challenged because of the degree of
difficulty and because those who do know about them are more likley to be
from 'over here' and it costs so much to get to Bonnneville (or the Black
Rock) and make a bid. (With the rocket bike the sea transport insurance
was a major cost factor - the BLM costs for use of the salt flats was much
less).

With the FIA Records Committee being formed from so many countries people
there will be a delay due to the gathering of folk for a small number of
meetings each year, but times being quoted are not acceptable. However if
the Country of the driver has a strong voice in the FIA then ratification
can be at an acceptable period. Blame for delay has to start with the
organisation - affiliated to the FIA - that the driver belongs to or is
working with. Andy Green did not have many months to wait!

I assume for the boat record, Wes, you meant the UIM. Now here in the UK
we have an annual event for attempts at UIM water speed records (a water
speedweek) and our National body the Royal Yachting Association makes sure
that the pilots efforts are rewarded as soon as possuble. The Ameriacan
Power Boat Association APBA, should be doing the same for USA pilots. On
two wheels the Auto Cycle Union (ACU) in Britain works closely with the FIM
and the same occurs on two wheels after bids over here. We used to have a
weekend for bike record attempts up to 1 mile timed distance. I hope the
AMA does the same for bikers in the USA.

Mayf - the route to becoming an FIA Steward in the UK is based upon a
lengthy period of experience - that those in the SCTA/USFRA/ECTA have in
abundance - and also on being from within clubs in the FIA 'family'. So if
ACCUS is a one man (& his wife band) something drastic needs to be done to
get sanction to the right people working in LSR in the USA. Why not
nominat KT, the man in purple, as he organises some of the best
'entertainment' in restaurants.

If your not going to set records Mayf perhap Pahrump should become the
centre of World sanctioning - at least of something. You seem to be
developing a good powerbase there. I happened upon an article in a
magazine about an 'Adult Establishment' near a town of the same name as you
live in. Is it the same place?
