lexan windshield

If a class allows a Lexan  window can the window also be replaced with 
sheet metal?  El Mirage and Bonneville are so hot the sun just beats down 
through the back window.  If it could be replaced with metal instead of 
Lexan it just might make things a little cooler.  -Elon
