We took the East Texas Camaro to Maxton. After the long, long, long drive,
Saturday did get off to a slow start, and we were getting a little worried that
we might have made the trip for nothing, as I knew we had to head back to Texas
by late Saturday afternoon. As you've all heard, it cleared up by late
morning, and I got to make several very enjoyable runs.
I had hoped for a little more speed (Hah! Like I guess I was the only one
there wanting that!), but I think I've reached close to all that my econo-motor
can put out (142 mph and change). I ran 28.5 tires and pulled 139 at about 5300
RPM. I then changed to 25" tires and pulled 141 and 142 at 6250 RPM. On the
last run I tried to push a tiny bit harder and the valves floated as it touched
6300 and I had to back off before I got to the clock.
I'll play with what I've got for a year or two, then I might give it a go with
nitrous just to see what the difference is. Next stop - - -World of Speed this
fall.
