Hello to all,
Here in Northern California we are in for a change in weather. The
forecast says that we can look for from 3 to 6 inches of rain from today
through Sunday. I am not complaining. I have been watching the weather
reports east of the Rockies with interest. I am certainly glad to be on
the Pacific side. It has been very pleasant the last couple of weeks
with lows in the thirties and highs in the 60s. Everything is showing
signs of the coming Spring. Lots of trees and flowers showing their
blossoms, which does have a negative side as well, "hay fever season."
I have been busy, in my spare time, working on a 1952 MGTD kit car. The
car was donated to my Rotary Club and it fell on me to get it in shape
for sale. It has turned out to be a large project and when I am
finished, it will not be a thing of pride because of the original sloppy
work. The car was first registered in 1983 and has a little more than
15,000 miles on the clock. I will soon be finished and it will be put up
for sale on the Internet. The car will make a good project for someone
who likes to tinker. It is on a 1971 VW chassis, is a cute car and
drives quite nicely.
I have told this story to give excuse for not working on the race car.
Barry did roll it out a couple of weeks ago and wash some more of the
Lakes dust off. Since the weather is showing signs of warming up a bit
more soon, I get more enthusiastic about tinkering on the car. We do
intend to get paint on it this year, but of course, we also intended to
do that last year. Time will tell. We are making a few changes, however.
Engine cooling has been a problem for us since we went to gasoline. I
haven't decided whether we will go to a water tank, or just add a small
water tank to the existing radiator set up to give a bit more volume of
coolant. I also need to improve the sealing of the air scoop. There
really aren't any major issues that I have to address, so hopefully we
can concentrate on the appearance.
Well, that is what is going on here. I am eagerly looking forward to
Speedweek and all that that brings to the table. See you there.
