the point you make about the electric water pump (versus belt drive from the
crank) MAY also be true of the oil pump: at high rmp, the engine driven oil
pump may actually be delivering quite a bit more oil than needed (thereby
wasting additional horsepower)-- since it is a slave to engine rpm.
