Jon - I can't speak about Boeing engineers, but at Raytheon (Beech/Hawker)
here in Wichita some of them don't even know that you can't weld steel and
aluminum together. I built a load of 4130 and T6 angles and details for a skin
assembly jig that went into the dumper. I called the engineer, took him out to
the weld shop and had a certified welder make an attempt. When the T6 melted
into a puddle and the steel wan't even dark red yet his jaw dropped. Back to
